9.5.2026 & 16.5.2026
The Aalto-Volley Spring Tournament 2026 is here! After the successes of previously held Mixer Tournament, Spring Tournament 2025, and Fall Tournament 2025, we are excited to announce that the Mixed Team tournament is here once again! We aim to organize a great volleyball tournament for Aalto University-community and beyond! So gather up your team and sign-up, this is a tournament that you don't want to miss!
The players will gather their own mixed teams (at least 2/6 ladies and 2/6 gents on the court at all times) and register into one of the following pools:
🧩 Hobby pool (Recreational/Intermediate, D/C)
🏆 Championship pool (Intermediate Plus/Upper Intermediate, C+/B)
Both pools can have maximum of 12 teams.
The tournament is organized in the Matinkylä sports hall over two weeks:
Championship pool: 9.5.2026, 12-21
Hobby pool: 16.5.2026, 12-21
Make sure that you sign-up ASAP! Pools are filled by sign-up order, so better act fast!
Sign up and more information can be found on the registration page!
Most of us say we're not that good at volleyball. But at least we're all nice people. :)
Then there's Oleksii - he says "Fuxk tjay shiz."
The winners of this spring came out with a cold start. But there's a pattern - go where the bar is low, (barely) reach the strongest second, and lock in once the championship is on the line!
Spikes and good vibes😆
Making the tournament due to a fortunate cancellation, the U20 team from the Puistola-Malmi area came in to conquer with solid volleyball and epic spirit!
Boom boom -Ali
With slight difficulties building their roster due to player injuries, Jiglibigli, another PuMa U20 team, came in strong with powerful spikes provided by a first-time setter. Everything considered, third place is a fantastic place to be!
ELEVATE. Big energy, bigger support. We play for fun, for each other, and for the love of the game—win or lose, we rise.
Having barely missed the upper continuation group in the previous tournament, this time, ELEVATE came in with a fully stacked roster and moved on to dominate the starting phase. The second phase was hard-fought, but after two close matches, no medal was taken home this time.
Crowned in last spring’s Aalto-Volley, we’re back to defend the title and raise the bar. Expect fast serves, fearless digs, and a whole lot of court swagger. We play hard, laugh louder, and thrive under pressure. The throne’s warm, the net’s tight, and we’re ready to make a comeback. See you on the court!
Yearning for another gold medal, Shampinione in fact outperformed the eventual tournament winner on points after the first phase. But one too many sets lost meant a technical fifth place, where they remained for the entire second phase as well.
Unisport Alumnae & Beach Boys
Love for the game born from the Unisport and beach volley circles, "The Aalto Breakers" had grown tired of Aalto players having the upper hand in the Southern region of University volleyball. However, their first Aalto matchup didn't occur until the continuation phase, where the results were quite equal.
In 1959, the US government deployed Thor nuclear missiles in England, an initiative known as Project Emily. In 1961 the US put Jupiter nuclear missiles in Italy and Turkey. All were within range of Moscow. The US had trained a paramilitary force of Cuban expatriates, which the CIA led in an attempt to invade Cuba and overthrow its government. Starting in November of that year, the US government engaged in a violent campaign of terrorism and sabotage in Cuba, referred to as the Cuban Project, which continued throughout the first half of the 1960s. The Soviet administration was concerned about a Cuban drift towards China, with which the Soviets had an increasingly strained relationship. In response to these factors the Soviet and Cuban governments agreed, at a meeting between leaders Nikita Khrushchev and Fidel Castro in July 1962, to place nuclear missiles on Cuba to deter a future US invasion. Our volleyball team is comprised of such missiles.
We think the description speaks for itself. Though, much credit for the team outfits that were much in the spirit of the tournament!
1, 2, aced it!
No how on Earth did the team predict their eventual placement and know to name themselves after it? 🤯
Etihad Volley is all about good vibes, teamwork, and enjoying the game. We play hard, laugh often, and celebrate every point—big or small.
Through hardships to winning the bottom group!

The team may as well have been called Team Vivian. 😉
Who needs a good receive when you can just tip
NRNP seems to have forgotten to take their team picture. Just imagine a group of beautiful people all posing next to each other!
This team was obviously playing mind games, because we remember quite a few times where the players didn't tip. 👀
If we lose too hard we will sub in Nishida
It seems Nishida didn't actually show up. Well fought!
