As the official volleyball club of Aalto University, Aalto-Volley aims to provide, develop, and maintain both recreational and competitive volleyball activities primarily for students in the Aalto community. However, the club welcomes external members as well, who accept the Rules of the Association and possess the right teekkari spirit.
Aalto-Volley's primary activities include weekly volleyball sessions and participations in competitive volleyball divisions and tournaments. In addition, the club hosts miscellaneous get-togethers, tournaments, workouts, courses, and beach volley sessions.
Our day-to-day activities are guided by the following values.
We recognize the value of being visible and transparent to the outside world and to each other about what, how, and why we do things. Transparency fosters good health and ties in neatly with the rest of the club's core values.
We understand that as students, we are all on our own personal journeys. The growth mindset challenges us both as individuals and as a larger community to see where we stand now, where we want to be in the future, and which steps have to be taken to get there.
We are a group of likeminded people who enjoy being and playing volleyball together. A strong sense of community brings people together and opens the door towards something greater than ourselves. In fact, the community being strong is a prerequisite for the club to survive, and as such, it must be cherished.
Most importantly, what's the point of any of this, if it isn't fun? The joy of playing volleyball, working together, and building lasting connections is one of the biggest reasons the club exists in the first place!
Historically, the Technical University organized its volleyball activities under the infamous Polyteknikkojen Urheiluseura (PUS). Dating back to October 2002, a separate organization, named PUS-Volleyball ry, was separated from its parent. The Association continued playing in the men's divisions and student competitions.
Following the major University fusion in 2010, which gave birth to the Aalto University as we know it today, the Association conducted an official rebranding in September 2018. Ever since, they were known as the official volleyball club of Aalto University: Aalto-Volley.
