The Aalto-Volley Spring Tournament is a slightly more competitive format than the previously held Mixer Tournament. The tournament ended up being a massive success - we look forward to hosting more of these!
We created a full invitation video to get things started correctly, promising free Boba Tea by Seastea Sello for our winners!
Check it out below - it was pretty epic! 😎
The players gathered their own mixed teams (at least 2/6 ladies and 2/6 gents on the court at all times) and registered into one of the following pools:
🧩 Hobby pool (Recreational/Intermediate, D/C)
🏆 Championship pool (Intermediate Plus/Upper Intermediate, C+/B)
More information on the official registration page below.
Due to the surprising popularity of the tournament, a second venue - the Otaniemi high school - was booked to hold an additional four teams in the Hobby pool. Hence, the tournament hosted a total of 16 teams - 8 in Hobby pool and 8 in Championship pool, both being played with two starting groups of four teams.
All matches started on May 10th at 15:30 and lasted until around 20:30 with an award ceremony that took place soon after.
Details on how everything went down can be found on the tournament sheet below.

The winners of our Boba prize - Lost in Rotation - dominated the early group phase and finished with a tight 3rd set victory against the second place team. A fitting victory considering the team thought about entering the Championship pool instead. Perhaps next season then.
Congratulations!
A clear second place with no sets dropped against any team other than the winner. The combined experience of the team and its individual players pulled through in the toughest of spots and awarded the team with a medal.
A carefully crafted team consisting of the friendliest players all wanting to perform at their best - such is the nature of volleyball. Black Ravens landed a proud finish on the podium after a close 3rd set victory in the bronze match!
The most consistent performance typically wins tournaments, and such is the case with our Championship pool winners - not a single set dropped against anyone! Matti - the team's captain - recruited the bravest, the toughest, and the hungriest players he could find with only one target in mind: being epic!
A well deserved victory!
Recognized by their glittery outfits and energetic cheers, our silver medalists quickly accumulated a fanbase amongst the other teams. The support was high but unfortunately not enough for a tournament victory this time.
Technically consisting of five middle blockers and a setter, our bronze medalists, Glass Cannons, raffled their roles at the start of each match. They apparently also had a secret seventh player that didn't appear in the podium picture. 👀
Warm thank you to everyone who participated, and to those who wanted to but couldn't! 🙏 See you next season!
