As a home match venue, the Otaniemi high school was perfect! It was nearby and had plenty of space, a high ceiling, and all the necessary equipment - aside for literally anything for a referee to stand on. Anyone who's ever played competitive volleyball understands how impactful a referee's high court visibility is on the integrity of a match. The motivation was clear - now it was only a matter of getting the work done!
The project was carried out between March and September 2024, finishing in the assembling of the tower a few weeks before the autumn matches started.
The project was done in collaboration with the following parties:
Liikuntamestari.fi & Pohjavirta.fi - offer for the tower, order, manufacturing, delivery to the school
Otaniemi high school & the city of Espoo - approval for the acquisition and preservation on school premises
TTE Fund - project sponsorship by 1000€ (out of 1226,36€)
Aalto-Volley community - assembling the tower & designing a social media thank you post
The TTE Fund provides sponsorship for many technical university projects, such as this one.
